Scan Converter Recording
Since the October 13 distance learning session, we have discovered some new options for connecting to record on your system.

| The new scan converter provides you some different hook up options. Instead of using the VGA splitter, we have eliminated that piece by having you connect the scan converter in the following way: 1. Use the vga cable that came with the scan converter and connect it from video in (on the end of the scan converter) to the codec vga video out. 2. Using the vga cable from the monitor (blue vga cable) connect it to the scan converter video out (side of the scan converter).
|
| On the end of the scan converter where the power switches are located are two dip switches. Make sure that they are both down.
|
| Here is yet another option for recording - Use an old vhs recorder instead of the new recorder. Take the composite video or svideo out from the scan converter and connect it to your vcr and record.
|
Downloading the video for viewing - I have had several questions about sharing the video with students. As we do not have a server to download to, the best options for students to view these files are as follows:
- As these files are in an m4v format, it means they are viewable by quicktime or using ITunes. You can download the video from your flash drive to a compputer which has either or both viewing applications. I would suggest doing this versus saving it on a server. Both uploading and downloading files off of a server can be a slow process.
- If you elect to use a vcr you can share the video tape.
