RUS Grant: TVDEC and STEPS schools were identified as schools supported in
this grant. The reasons for including these schools was:
- beginning in 2007-08 these schools will receive unified distance education services through ESU 10
- schools will be looking to join the statewide network which will provide additional connection opportunities
- additional
video conferencing technology will provide expanded resources for
sending and receiving classes within the consortiums and beyond
- UNK will partner with the project as they will share technical resources to provide additional video conferencing connectivity.
Funding
from the grant is for equipment in support of video conferencing. This
grant does not allow for any administrative or training expenses.
(Note - Carryover funds from TVDEC may be identified as a source of
funding in support of administrative expense or training.)
Funded Equipment Request: ($384,803)
- Approximately $8,000 per school to purchase video conferencing CODECs. ($350,000)
- Upgrade MCU at UNK to provide additional video conferencing connections. ($34,803)
In-Kind Contributions:
The
RUS application requires that there is a 50% match. During the
application process, schools listed in the application were asked to
send a letter indicating that they would be willing to use their
$20,000 reimbursement through LB 1208 for such a match.
