Proposal Specifications for RFP
Posted on December 3, 2007 Up to 15 schools are requesting a bid to purchase the following items for their school district. Upon receipt of the RFP, each school district will make a decision to contract for the purchase of said item(s) for their district. Any vendor may submit an RFP for any item or items that are listed within this proposal specifications list. All items listed in the specifications for the RFP meet the eligibility requirements for "All Internal Connections" as outlined by the USAC Schools and Libraries. As part of contract for purchase, a clause must be included that any participating school district has the right to reject said contract for item(s) if ERATE for 2007-08 from the Universal Service Fund is not approved for said item(s). Contract approval date by each interested district will be approved no sooner then January 1, 2008 and no later then February 7, 2008. Item Descriptions: CODEC 1: A CODEC (coder/decoder) also known as a video encoder, is a device comprising an encoder and decoder in the same equipment. The CODEC prodeces a coded output and compresses and decompresses audio and video signals. This CODEC must meet the following minimum standards:
- High Definition
- Capable of supporting up to two HD cameras
- Include a bid option for two HD cameras
- Build in audio
- Multipoint capability
- Content sharing capability
Interface or Edge Device - An Interface or Edge Device is a physical device that can pass packets between some types of networks and an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network. The device may be a router or Ethernet-to-ATM switch that directly connects to an ATM network. This interface or edge device must meet the following minimum standards:
Routers - Routers are switching devices that can act as an interface between two networks and connect different segments, such as departments or floors in a building. Functionally, routers select the routing path for traffic, may provide features such as load balancing, and can provide trouble-shooting diagnostic capabilities. The router must meet the following minimum standards: - Cisco 3825 router with Advanced Security feature set and 4 port switch module
Network Switches: A switch is a mechanical or electronic device that completes or breaks an electrical path or that selects the paths for communication. More specifically, network switches provide capability similar to a network hub but provide a dedicated bandwidth at each network port, rather than shared bandwidth among all ports. The network switches must meet the following minimum standards: - Cisco 3825 router with Advanced Security feature set and 4 port switch module
Master Control Unit: A Master Control Unit (MCU) is a device that controls the main operating functions of a video system. The Video Channel Modulator: A Video Channel Modulator is a distribution box that takes standard video and audio input from video cameras, recorders, and other video components and distributes the signals to end users.
