Expenditures Allowed For Reimbursement Within LB 1208
LB 1208 will reimburse for hardware and software that upgrades distance education services within a district. All school districts who a) are active Network Nebraska participants and b) who send and/or receive two semesters of high school credit classes over a four year period are eligible to receive up to $20,000 reimbursement for approved expenditures.
Below is a recommended list of items for each consortium area:
TVDEC South - As TVDEC south schools have already upgraded their static classroom to IP protocol which allows these sites to connect to other schools on the statewide network, these schools have greater flexibility in the use of their funds.
1. Static classroom upgrade - $2,000
- Change out your viewing setup in your static classroom to a projector system.
- Projector and hanger - $1,400
- Installation upgrade by Dark Fiber Solution - $600
- Add a 20" LCD monitor to replace current computer monitor $300
2. Edge device upgrade - Router, switch and firewall options will be needed to greatly improve transport capabilities. Cost of this system is $6,000
3. Lifesize Codec Add-ons/Upgrades - Cart - $1,500
- LCD Monitor - $1,500
- Upgrade Team (point to point) unit to Room Multi-point unit - $3,600
- If you upgrade to Room unit, addition of second LCD Monitor - $1,500
- Add a computer to share data - $1,200
- Second HD camera - $2,000
4. Other items - Electronic whiteboard in static classroom $1,000
- Microscopic document camera $900
- A second codec - $7,200 to $11,000
